Acknowledgements

About The Kids Foundation is dedicated to my wonderful daughters, Emily Rose Ekman aka "Giggles" and Elizabeth Sarah Ekman aka  "Boo".  My love for them inspired me to create the Foundation with a goal of helping improve the lives of children everywhere.

When you see a finished product like a website or a book, you don't see the late nights, hours of research, e-mails, re-writes, or the input of many contractors who provide their expertise to create a professional end result.  You also don't see the support behind the scenes from family and friends.  In my case there have been many people who have shared my life's journey and many more I've met along the way.  I would like to thank all of my friends that stood by me which have been too many to list.

First and foremost, I would like to thank my parents, Adela and Einar "Duke" Ekman Jr., who raised three sons and showed me the meaning of love, commitment, honor and respect throughout their 48 years of marriage.   

I am very grateful to Brenda Milhem for introducing me to her husband Greg who designs and develops websites.  Greg and his two sons, Derek and Riley, were pivotal in creating the superb aesthetics and ease of use inherent in the About The Kids Foundation site.

I have known Jennifer Hagan of the Hagan Law Firm for a few years.  She has been a great asset to me as well as my family, on a personal and professional level.  Jennifer graciously agreed to join the Board of Directors for About The Kids Foundation in addition to her role as the corporate attorney.   At this time I would like to acknowledge her contributions and thank Jennifer and her firm for all their hard work.

Another person I met along my journey is Dr. Bruce Bess.  Bruce is an expert on co-parenting and family law and has deep understanding of children.  I would like to thank him for his valuable counsel and guidance as I put the Foundation together.

During life you should always have one friend who will tell it like it is and stick by you through thick and thin.  Vince Barletta and I have been friends since I was 11 years old.  He is my oldest daughter's Godfather.  I asked Vince to be on the Board of Directors for About The Kids Foundation for the simple reason that he's a great father and family man.  I would also like to thank his wife Anna for her input and friendship.

My thanks also goes to my close friends David and Lindy McGrouther as well as Roland and Kathy Quiroz and their dog "Cooper".  I have received incredible input and support from all of them.
